Orientation Day at the Dream Center

Posted on Posted in 2019 LA MIssion Trip

This morning our team got to enjoy some time as individual family groups. Many of our groups went to the beach and enjoyed sunshine, games in the sand, walks on the boardwalk and yummy food. The extra time this morning with our family groups provided more opportunities for students and leaders to get to know each other more before we start serving together tomorrow.

This afternoon we arrived at the Dream Center. After getting settled in our rooms we had our orientation meeting where we learned more about one of the Dream Center Staff members, Taylor, and more about the expectations the Dream Center has for us while we are here.

We enjoyed dinner together at the Dream Center and this evening our team is out shopping. Each family group is purchasing cases of water and lots of socks that we will be taking when we visit Skid Row later this week. This evening our families are also purchasing blank note cards where we will be writing Scripture and encouraging notes for people. It is our goal to be able to hand these out to people that we get to interact with and minister to.

There is a wide variety of emotions students are processing tonight. Students and leaders are both excited and anxious to see what God has for us this week. Pray for our team as we step into a full day of serving tomorrow. Pray for good rest and open minds – and for boldness in whatever God calls us to.
