Wrapping Up

Posted on Posted in 2019 LA MIssion Trip

This morning was our final opportunity to serve with the Dream Center. Our team was split up across five neighborhoods. We got to hand out food, clothes and toys for the kids. We got to play with kids in the playgrounds and clean up garbage. Some of the groups helped lead Easter egg hunts. It was a fun morning of serving in the community and seeing the impact the Dream Center continues to have on these families.

This afternoon family groups spent some time reflecting on what we have experienced and what God has taught us. It was a powerful afternoon for our students and leaders to thank God for what He has done in and through us this week.

This evening we were blessed with a great dinner where all 70 of us could eat together. Tonight we are celebrating what God did in and through us. We are processing all that God did so we can be ready to share with our family back home. Our friend Jenna, who used to work at the Dream Center when we came here in 2016, came to share with our team about how we each have our own gifts and talents. She shared about how when we work together, we can use our gifts to bring healing. Jenna encouraged us to remember that as we go home we can all continue to trust Jesus to guide us into conversations with those He places in our paths.

Tonight we also spent some time writing thank you cards to all of the Dream Center staff. We wanted to encourage the staff team as they spend their lives pouring into so many others. We also spent some time encouraging each other. We put up colored construction paper along the walls of our meeting room here at the hotel. Each member of the team has their own page with their name on it. We encouraged our team to take some time to write notes of encouragement to each other. We hope that these notes bring life and encouragement to us as we head home.

Tomorrow we have an early morning before a day of travel. We are looking forward to being home and sharing more of what God has done. Continue to watch this blog as we post more stories from our students. We are excited for what God has done and is continuing to do in each of our students and leaders. What a privilege it is to serve!
